La residencia es un proyecto sin fin de lucro que tiene una cuota mínima de recuperación para el mantenimiento del espacio.

Para las residencias necesitamos calidad, agilidad, experiencia, dinamismo, juventud y colaboración entre los artistas residentes, la Fundación Cultural y la comunidad.

Los valores que manejamos en la Curtiduría son formalidad, responsabilidad, accesibilidad, flexibilidad, enfoque a una cultura de servicio, honradez, honorabilidad y experiencia.

- Descuentos en impresiones de plotter digital, scaneo en alta resulución del negocio ¨Mate¨ en caso de necesitarse.

- Recomendación para un buen trato y descuento para algún impreso con la imprenta El Castor (de necesitarse).

- Contactos con los artesanos para hacer la producción de la obra (de necesitarse.)

La residencia NO incluye: Alimentos, bebidas, costos, materiales y herramientas de producción, trámites aduanales, gastos médicos ni transportes.

Residences

For the residents we promote quality, experience, dynamism, youth, and collaboration between the artists in residence, La Curtiduría, and the community.

The values that La Curtiduría embraces are formality, responsibility, accessibility, flexibility, a sense of community, and a focus on cultural service, honesty, honor, and experience.

The residence is a not for profit project that has a minimum quota of recuperation for the maintenance of the space.

-Discounts on digital plotter prints and high-resolution scans from the “Mate” business, incase you need it.

-Recommendation on a good deal and discounts for some prints with the printing press, El Castor (if needed).

-Contacts with the other artists for the production of your piece at a good price (if needed)

-After November the use of lithography, screen-printing, and press workshops, in addition to digital graphics equipment in el Taller Gráfica Actual will have a special price.

The artist in residence will oblige to wok under the following rules:

- Showing clear and punctual interest in the work with the artistic and social community of La Curtiduría.

-Having a disposition and ability for sharing your work and experience through a course/workshop or through a discussion.

-That at the end of the residence the artist has completed a creative, personal, and community-oriented process that can be exhibited.

The residence does NOT include: food, drink, costs, materials, production tools and transportation. Nor does it include medical costs in case of an accident.

Creció en Topeka, Kansas y recibió sus primeras lecciones de arte al copiar historietas de Hanna-Barbera a mano. Asistió a la Universidad de Kansas en donde recibió su BFA en Pintura en el año de 1988.

Dos años más tarde, se mudó a San Francisco para seguir usando a la historieta el material gráfico del cual se inspira y que usa varias en formas de arte: murales, pinturas, pantallas de seda y carteles. Isis trabajó sobre murales para el Proyecto de Mural de Callejón de Corneta en San Francisco a partir de 1993 hasta 2002 y por consiguiente, surgió como uno de los artistas de un movimiento ad hoc artístico conocido como " la escuela de Misión ", esto incluido a pintores como Barry McGee, Margarita Kilgallen, Rigo, Carolina Castaño, y Aarron Noble.

Desde entonces, ha tenido numerosas piezas de arte expuestas en todas partes de California, incluyendo Centro para las Artes Yerba Buena, Museo de Arte San José y el Centro de McPherson en Santa Cruz entre otros. Su material gráfico ha sido publicado en varios libros, como " Mujeres y Arte: Territorio Impugnado ", " Vicioso, Delicioso, y Ambicioso: Artistas de Mujeres de siglo XX " y revistas como LowRider Arte, Aztlan, Planeta de Punk, Juxtapoz y Mix Magazine.

Actualmente, Isis trabaja sobre una animación titulada "The Re Awakening " financiado por Individual Arts Commission Grant.

Isis Rodriguez

is a second generation Mid-Western Latina who grew up in Topeka, Kansas and received her first lessons in art from copying Hannah-Barbera cartoons by hand. She attended the University of Kansas where she received her BFA in Painting in 1988.

Two years later, she moved to San Francisco to pursue her cartoon inspired artwork using various art forms: murals, paintings, silk screens, graffiti, flyers, and posters. Isis worked on murals for the Clarion Alley Mural Project in San Francisco from 1993 to 2002 and as a result, she emerged as one of the artists from an ad hoc artistic movement known as "The Mission school", that included painters like Barry McGee, Margaret Kilgallen, Rigo, Carolyn Castaño, and Aarron Noble.

Since then, she has had numerous art exhibits throughout California, including Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, San Jose Museum of Art, and The McPherson Center in Santa Cruz, to name a few. Her artwork has been critiqued and published in several books, such as Judy Chicago and Edward Lucie Smith's "Women and Art: Contested Territory", "Vicious, Delicious, and Ambitious: 20th Century Women Artists" and magazines such as LowRider Arte, Aztlan, Punk Planet, Juxtapoz and Mix Magazine.

In 2003, Isis completed her first public art commission of designing cartoon mosaics for "Parque Niños Unidos" at 23rd and Treat, San Francisco and received the Norcal Sanitary Fill Artist in Residency Program, San Francisco.

Currently, Isis is working on an animation short entitled "The Re Awakening" funded by the Individual Arts Commission Grant.
